Exactly on October 23, an inspiring event took place at the Prague OPS!
Together with the staff of Studio 11 bit and Jakub Siwek, we conducted a workshop for children and teenagers aged 7 to 19. More than a dozen participants took part in the workshop. The classes were held within the framework of the Social Welfare Center of the Praga Południe District of the city of Warsaw, run by the Social Welfare Center. Warsaw project “Compas – in the right direction and on your own trail. 2023 Edition.”
We invited participants on a journey through the world of GameDevu! The youngsters were introduced to the various fields of activity of those who specialize in the work of programming, developing and publishing games. The guides were “old-timers” of the industry – the aforementioned 11 bit studio team and Jakub Siwek. The class was based on the “brainstorming” method.
The 11 bit studio team conducted an activation workshop covering the following topics:
- Discuss the specifics of working in the Game Dev industry,
- Types and characteristics of occupations – what the job entails and a discussion of the necessary competencies,
- collaborative design of a potential room,
- Demonstration of the game level design process (level design) on the basis of a sample production,
- basic principles of computer game pricing,
- Q&A – questions and answers.
In the second part of the meeting, Jakub Siwek introduced participants to the specifics of the Unity engine. Using a mini-game created in real time, he showed how Unity’s basic tools and solutions can be used to create game prototypes. The culmination of this part was the playing of the created project by willing children. But that’s not all – in addition to instilling the IT bug, kids and teenagers also had the opportunity to learn about the passion of trekking and mountaineering. Jakub presented videos and photos from his expeditions and showed climbing equipment.
Everyone participated with interest and actively until the very end of the class (even the youngest!).
Below you will find a description of the event as recounted by OPS staff.

We are glad that we could contribute to the cultivation of passion among the Young by giving them ideas for their future professional work.
