We are approaching the end of the first month of the New Year! How are your New Year’s resolutions coming along? We have many, among them the continued continuation of charity events such as Jingle Jam.

Jingle Jam is the world’s largest gaming-related charity event. Every year, in December, you can purchase a special Christmas package with Steam keys. This year’s The Jingle Jam 2023 Games Collection numbered as many as 82 items, including Harmony’s Odyssey codes, which went to 100k buyers.

The campaign was traditionally successful – as much as 330,000 pounds were raised! This time the money was used to protect dolphins and whales. Together, we are fighting to maintain the ban on commercial whaling and close the loopholes that continue to allow the killing of these animals.

Did you know that commercial whaling was banned in 1983? Unfortunately, despite the ban, nearly 40,000 whales have since died in Japan, Norway and Iceland. More than100,000 dolphins and porpoises are also killed each year. Attractive is their meat, which is even used in pet food. And yet they are intelligent and sentient beings! Besides, they are our greatest allies in the fight against the climate crisis. Protecting whales may be more important to saving the planet than planting trees! Surprising, right? I’m already explaining why.

Whales and dolphins capture carbon dioxide and distribute nutrients throughout the seas. It is estimated that each large whale absorbs an average of 33 tons of carbon dioxide, while a tree only absorbs up to 22 kg per year. Submerged whale carcasses take decades to decompose and become an entire ecosystem in their own right, supporting deep-sea species ranging from large scavengers to microscopic bacteria.
