MythicOwl – if there’s an owl, there’s a book!

To get to the subject of books, one would have to start at the beginning. And the beginning was linked to memories of comic scenes seen in Adele Faber and Elain Mazlish’s book series “How to talk to get children to listen to us”.  The 90s, every cartoon was at a premium, even the one in our parents’ books 😊

The idea was born in the head of Tomasz Mularczyk, the founder of MythicOwl, who quickly passed it on to the other members of the team. As some of us were already parents, they managed to feel first-hand that it was, to put it mildly, quite a challenge – a kind of Runmageddon.  Well, reaching an agreement and awakening a child’s willingness to cooperate, without quarrelling and losing proximity and trust, is usually a task equal to climbing the Eagle’s Perch in flip-flops. In winter. Looking for good ways to build contact with the child, we went back to the old comics, this time also reading the content of the books 😊 The tips and techniques found in them struck us so much that we decided to contribute to spreading the content.  After all, it was thanks to them that we swapped our flip-flops for sturdy trekking shoes!

Moving with the times, to meet the needs of busy parents, we created the Parenting Hero app. The app, created in collaboration with Joanna Faber (daughter of Adele Faber) and Julia King, is a digital, interactive translation of the advice contained in the authors’ book  “How to talk so children listen to us. A survival guide for parents of children aged 2-7 years”. You can read about the app itself here (https://www.mythicowl.com/parentinghero/). And we’re moving on – i.e. to our book campaign!

In order to familiarise the wider public with these extremely useful methods, we ordered a print run of books bearing information about Parenting Hero. Subsequently, we established cooperation with the Public Library of the City of Warsaw – Voivodship Central Library.  Thanks to this fruitful cooperation, we made 1,000 books available free of charge to libraries in the Mazowieckie Voivodeship.  Books were also distributed to voivodeship libraries in Toruń, Poznań, Opole, Olsztyn, Lublin, Zielona Góra, Bydgoszcz, Gdańsk, Kielce, Gorzów Wielkopolski, Rzeszów and Szczecin.  We also provided willing entities with a pool of codes for their recipients to download the Parenting Hero app free of charge.

We are happy to have worked together to support parents and child carers in climbing the educational peaks safely and intimately!
